The Hui people are one of the 56 recognized ethnic groups in China. These people are Muslim practicing men and women living in China. Moreover, this ethnic group distinguishes itself from the rest by being one of the only Chinese speaking minority groups; most other Islamic minorities speak a different language (Turkish, Iranian, etc…).
These historical characters gave birth to the Hui people and shaped their culture. Consequently, The Hui People, through descendants like Yusuf Ma Dexin have significantly influenced the Chinese culture and the role Islam plays in it.
